I had a fantastic stay at Shambhala @ Byron, where the Balinese-inspired ambience truly transported me to a peaceful paradise. The beach access was very nice, but I did notice a few minor maintenance issues that could use some attention. Overall, though, the experience was really good and relaxing.

I stayed in the Samadhi cottage, which offered stunning ocean views from the jacuzzi and direct beach access. Both cottages were lovely, but this one really stood out. It felt like a private retreat.
Service
10.0
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. They made my experience more enjoyable, ensuring I had everything I needed during my stay.
Location

The location was amazing, with just a short walk down some back stairs to the sandy beach. It was also about a 20-minute beach walk to the main strip of Byron, which I found very convenient.
Dining

There was a lovely restaurant just a five-minute walk away, which made dining options easy. The availability of light snacks at the hotel added to the convenience.

The amenities, including the sauna and jacuzzi, were fantastic. I especially appreciated the garden setting and the plentiful towels provided during my stay.

6.6/10

I stayed at Shambhala @ Byron for six days and really enjoyed the experience. The beautiful surroundings and access to the beach were excellent, but there were some issues like sand in the beds and a malfunctioning spa bath. Overall, though, the staff were accommodating and made an effort to resolve my concerns.

The room I was in had everything I needed, but it was a bit dark and the shower screen was quite small, causing water to spill on the bathroom floor.
Service

The staff, when I was able to reach them, were incredibly pleasant and helpful. They even offered an extra day for free to make up for some of the issues I encountered.
Location

The location was perfect, right on the beach and close to Byron Bay shops and cafes. The gardens were stunning and added to the overall magical feel.
Dining

I didn’t do much dining outside, but I enjoyed the option of preparing my own meals with the well-equipped kitchen.

The private spa was lovely, though it was a bit too hot for my liking. The sauna and steam room were also great features during my stay.

My stay at Shambhala @ Byron was a mix of bliss and challenges. The amazing ocean views and close beach access were highlights. However, some issues like room lighting and a lack of staff presence detracted from the experience.

Rooms

The decor was beautiful, but the room I stayed in had too much light coming in, making it hard to sleep. The second room was an improvement, yet not all windows had proper coverings. felt a bit exposed.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly and helpful when I interacted with them, but I wish there had been more available during my stay. Not easy to get assistance, especially when things like towels were needed.
Location

The location was definitely a highlight. The peace and tranquility, with direct access to Belongil Beach, allowed for lovely walks. I loved being close enough to Byron Bay’s attractions without being in the thick of it.

While there weren't extensive dining options on-site, I enjoyed the location's proximity to great local restaurants. The beach tacos I had were definitely a treat!

Facilities like the steam room and spa were perfect for relaxation after a day at the beach. Though I noticed a lack of a pool, which would've been nice.

Shambhala @ Byron was an absolute delight, wrapping me in that Balinese vibe right on the beach. The peaceful location was a major highlight, but the lack of a reception area and some minor issues with room lighting could be improved. Overall, it’s a charming getaway, especially for anyone looking to escape into a slice of paradise near the ocean.

Rooms

My room was beautifully decorated, but I struggled with too much light seeping in. The layout was cozy, yet I wished for better blackout options to ensure a good night's sleep.
Service

The staff were super friendly and accommodating. However, I wished they were a bit more accessible, especially when it came to additional requests during my stay.
Location

The hotel’s location was very nice, right next to the beach and close enough to the main town for a stroll. I loved the tranquility it offered while still being within reach of the action.
Dining

I didn’t dive into dining options much, but the BBQ area was inviting, making it easy to enjoy a meal outside in the fresh air.

Loved the steam room and sauna! They really added a luxurious touch to my stay, though I did miss having a pool.

I recently stayed at Shambhala @ Byron for a few nights, and while the hotel was beautifully decorated and the beach access was perfect, there were some challenges that affected my experience. I found the lighting in the rooms quite bothersome for sleeping, and the lack of a reception made communication regarding concerns a bit difficult. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere but hope for some improvements, particularly in room darkening and service accessibility.

Rooms

The decor was stunning, but I struggled with light intrusion from the doors. My first room lacked blockout curtains, leading to a poor night's sleep. The second room was better, but still not ideal for light sleepers. The beds were comfortable, though!
Service
6.0
The staff I met were friendly and eager to help, especially Chris, who showed me around. However, without a reception area, access to additional service was limited, making it challenging when I needed something.
Location
9.0
The location is absolutely amazing, being so close to the beach with lovely views. The ambience is tranquil and perfect for relaxation, though it would’ve been nice to have better signage to navigate the hotel at night.
Dining
8.0
The dining options were good, and I particularly enjoyed the home-made yogurt. Eating here felt very personal and cozy.
Facilities
7.0
There are great facilities, but it would be helpful to have more options such as a swimming pool or a shaded area by the beach for lounging. The gym and spa amenities were also quite nice.
